Maša Knapič & Carmen Santesmases

Maša Knapič (b. 1996) graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana in 2019, where she is currently completing her master’s degree. She investigates the influence of the environment on the individual, the repetition of behavioral patterns and identity. She is interested in the relationship between the image and its carrier and the context in which the work is embedded.  Her work has been featured in the solo exhibition Sharpening…please steady your device at DobraVaga (Ljubljana, 2021) and as part of the project Unfamiliar Area: ft. props at the Alkatraz Gallery (Ljubljana, 2022). She also participated in several group exhibitions in Slovenia (Bank of Slovenia Gallery, DobraVaga, Zala Gallery, Layer House) and abroad (Galerija Knifer, Osijek). During her studies she was a part of Gallery 7:069, a student run pop-up gallery that was interested in exhibiting works of current student production. In 2022 she finished School for Curatorial Practices and Critical Writing, World of Art.

Carmen Santesmases (b. 1998) is an art historian and a becoming-poet. They understand writing as a means of political action and reflection. Their research revolves around the different ways of discursive construction and its political effectiveness. They have a BA in art history by Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2016-2020) and a MA in contemporary art history, Historia del arte contemporáneo y cultura visual given by Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid at Museo Reina Sofía (2020-2021). They did an Erasmus+ Internship at MSUM (2021-2022), Ljubljana during 9 months as Adela Zeleznik’s –head of the education department– assistant. In 2020 they co-funded an art magazine called VEINTE20 (veinte20.org) which is still running.
